Soweto signs I like

Often i see signs in Soweto that i enjoy. Tho i don't always get a pix, here are some.

Trousers altering.

A kind of thick salsa. The sign may have been a help in making the stuff.

Soweto 1st birthday party

This little girl really wanted me to "shoota" her. So i did. Here is her picture. We were at a birthday party. After singing and blowing out the candles and before the cake is taken to be cut, the birthday child first gets icing/frosting on her nose, cheeks, and forehead. Next comes a big kiss. Sometimes others at the party also get this good luck smearing.

All the kids got together at the kids' table for a photo (above) then waited about 20 min, most of them just standing here waiting, no questions, no comments, no sneaking food. A few did walk away. The birthday boy had his picture taken with each of dozens of family and friends, until he had had enough. Adults were being given candy and chips during this time.
